I know there are things that grow out of the ground
and they look sorta pretty when they bloom
I know that I should probably try to enjoy them
instead of always filling my head with doom

But there’s so many bad things
There’s so many sad things
that I have trouble believing anything is good
There’s so many sad things

That I feel misunderstood
when I don’t seem happy
about some seemingly glorious thing
cause I can’t help but think
something worse happened at the same time

I know there are lots of pretty birds
and they fly like people wish they could
If I was a poet I would try to come up with words
about how the experience makes me feel alive

But I ain’t no poet
at least not a good one
one that makes people feel good
with reflective thoughts that resonate to so many
All I do is sing about me
Oh, there’s so many bad things
and there’s so many sad things
that I have trouble believing anyone is good
