lyrics
When I was a kid I wrote my first lyrics
about how I wanted to sing in a band
How I didn’t want money and all that shit
A friend told me they weren’t lyrics at all
Just me writing what I thought
And for a while I thought he was right
Tried to write about strange things
Like odd creatures taking flight
or spacemen riding through the night
Though it felt just as silly
As just being me
But I dig myself into a hole
By being myself
I’m not crazy
but I just don’t really like things
I try to be honest when I sing
It’s the only time I attempt honesty
other times I just laugh
and say dumb things
But how can I expect anyone
to like my songs
I don’t, I really don’t
but I want them to just the same
I write about things I do
I write about writing songs
It’s just something that I do
And I know I must do it wrong
Because I’ve been doing it for too long
And I’ve written too many songs
and nobody likes them
except maybe for that one
It was put on a CD
and sometimes people would yell out to me
at one of my few shows
when are you going to play tweet tweet?
Oh I dig myself into a hole
By being myself
I’m not crazy
but I just don’t really like things
I try to be honest when I sing
It’s the only time I attempt honesty
other times I just laugh
and say dumb things
But how can I expect anyone
to like my songs
I don’t, I really don’t
but I want them to just the same
Won’t you sing along with me?
They never sing along with me
Won’t you sing along with me?
Sing along with me
